WordPress vs Blogger - Which is Better?

wordpress vs blogger, Blogger vs WordPress for making money,

When it comes to blogging, this is the million dollar question - "Which is better- WordPress or Blogger?"

Actually there's no right answer. What is good for me, may be not best suited for you.

Some users love blogger for it's less technical features and some love WordPress because of its advanced power and features.

If you ask me in which platform you should start with, my recommendation is-

If you want to start blogging just to share your thoughts with people, you can use Blogger.com which is absolutely free.

But if you want to start blogging professionally then start with Blogger.com or Wordpress.com (both are free of cost)  for a month and when you used to blogging, start a new blog on the self-hosted WordPress platform or you can migrate from Blogger to WordPress.

Let's discuss the two most popular blogging platform Blogger and WordPress.com. And weigh the important factors such as cost, usability, data storage

WordPress vs BlogSpot -  Which is better?

BlogSpot is better or not:

Free of Cost:

The Blogger platform (BlogSpot) is the best, when you start blogging to share your opinions with others.

Or when you are not blogging professionally and you need a simple platform which doesn't have more technical features, then BlogSpot is really good.

Blogger is free and loaded with features and functionality. It's free storage is very limited and it allows you to customize your banner, background, post and footer for free.

Also you can easily customize your blog using HTML and CSS code, if you want.

Data storage:

Blogger provides up to 1 GB of total storage, shared with Picasa Web. If you've upgraded to Google+, your photos will be stored in Google Photos, where you have 15 GB of storage space shared with Gmail and Drive.

Easy to Use:

Blogger is free and allows full customization. But is it easy to use?

Absolutely! Blogger is the easiest platform and specially for those who are new to blogging.

It's not only easy to create a blog, also you can begin posting immediately and use toolbar to quickly insert an image and format text.

Also it's very easy to change your blog's layout, template, color and so on. So Blogger is very user-friendly and easy to use.

Custom Domain:

In Blogger, blogs are hosted by Google and generally accessed from subdomain of BlogSpot.com. Also you can your custom domain, which you have to purchase.

SEO optimization:

Proper search engine optimization or SEO can make or break your website. In Blogger platform, it lacks in SEO optimization.

Getting Help:

Help section is one of the most important part of any online platform. when you're starting your blog, when you want to upgrade, when you run into problems.

Is help or documentation available? What kind? Do you have to pay?

None of these platforms have wonderful phone support.
But Blogger probably has the weakest help section although you can quickly find a lot of help on the Internet.

Limitations:

Blogger has some limitations on content storage-
# In blog description maximum 500 characters can be used.
# Per account 100 blogs can be created.
# Individual page size is limited to 1MB.
# Only 100 invitations are available per blog.
# If your site is violating any terms of service, your account may be suspended by Blogger without any notice.

AdSense:

AdSense is like a money machine for any blogger who is looking forward to making money from his blog.

Initially, BlogSpot used to be the best way to get your AdSense account approved. Being Google's product, Blogger had some advantages to get AdSense approval

But now, it’s also becoming tough to get your AdSense approval with BlogSpot.

WordPress is better or not:

Cost:

WordPress.com is absolutely free but when you will use self-hosted WordPress(WordPress.org), you will need to pay web hosting and domain.

Data storage:

WordPress will give you only 3 GB of space for uploaded files and images. If you need extra space, you have to upgrade to a WordPress.com Plan comes with additional space depending on the plan.

Customization:

You can easily customize your WordPress theme. If you can easily add functionality to your theme, by install a plugin.

Use the Customizer in your WordPress admin screens to customize text fonts, colors and layout.

If you’re working with a page builder theme, you can customize the design of your site by using it's feature.

If you’ve installed a framework theme, use one of the available child themes to customize your site, along with any customization options viable own the admin screens.

Plugins and SEO:

Search engine optimization (SEO) in simple words means optimizing your blog or website for search engines and getting more organic traffic from search engine like Google, Bing.

In WordPress, there are different types of SEO plugins available. These plugins will help you to optimize your blog for search engine.

Usability:

WordPress is very easy to use and navigate using the tools available in the free version.

However, once you have to upgrade (CSS Upgrade) to do advanced customization, it is not so easy to figure out where and how to customize your blog or website (using CSS code).

AdSense approval:

It's the another advantage of a self-hosted blog (WordPress.org). With WordPress and a good quality domain (.com, .in, .org), it's becoming easier to get AdSense approval.

Plugins:

WordPress' plugin allows users to extend the features and functionality of a website or blog.

These plugins help you in search engine optimization. Also, by using these plugin you can do anything you want and if not, you can take help from WordPress support forum.

In a nutshell:

If you have a limited budget or you want to create a blog for a fundraising event or a school project, then Blogger is the best option.

It's free, powerful, and easy to use. It is loaded with lots of
functionality—without the cost!

If you are developing a blog or website for business or professional use and you anticipate you'll need of more than ten pages, I recommend you to use WordPress. In WordPress, there is no limit on the number of pages you can create.

Also WordPress is more suitable if you are going to be sharing a
lot of images, videos or any files with your customers or blog readers. Blogger doesn't have this capability build-in.

I hope, now it's clear to you which platform is best suited to you - WordPress or Blogger. Choose your blogging platform and start blogging.

Best of Luck! Also share this article with your friends to help them choosing best blogging platform.
